What an eventful spelling bee yesterday! First, a huge congratulations to each and every student who competed. The level of competition was fierce. Each person put forth great effort in a pressure situation.
A special shout out to Zach Robbins and Daniel Caverly who spelled to the end, but didn’t win. Another special note for 5th grader Shelby Moore who competed to the end for grades 5/6. We finished the spelling bee with Shelby and Ruby going through three more rounds of words in front of the judges. INGENIOUS was the winning word.
This year’s winners are:
5th: Ruby Laffin
6th Ty O’Neal
7th. Gabby Higdon
8th Nicholas Prince
A special thank you to judges— Mrs. Gasaway, Ms. Leist, Ms. Cook, Mrs. Carlyle and Mr. Ottersbach.
Thanks to Nate Samsel who worked on the tech piece and to those students in Mrs. Shafer’s 5th grade choir and Mrs. London’s English class who helped get the stage ready.
Any girl 5th-8th grade that is interested in attending the New Albany Lady Bulldog’s basketball developmental league should see Ms. Cook or stop by the office for more information.

You will also be entered to win $100 to go toward a charity of your choice. Flyers can be picked up in our Scribner Library.
We have flyers in the office for New Albany Little League Softball and Baseball sign-ups.
It’s time to collect Box Tops! Collection days will be January 29- January 31. Please trim them and put them in a baggie with the student’s name on it. 5th and 6th graders will turn them into your homeroom teachers. 7th and 8th graders will turn it into your first period teacher. All Box Tops collected will help fund the Panther Plus Field Day. For every 25 Box Tops turned in, your name will be entered into a drawing for a prize.
